Friday Wrap Up – Facebook Post Management, Doctor Who Doodle and Pinterest Place Pins
Here are some of the juiciest bits of news from this week on social media. Facebook has updated a few features and is testing new ads, Pinterest has launched innovative Place Pins and Google has released its Doctor Who Doodle!
Facebook Updates
Here’s some good news for all Facebook Page admins: Facebook has upgraded its Page Composer and added some extremely useful features, making post management that much easier :
1. Scheduling of posts has been made much simpler. The steps have now reduced from a whopping 12 to only 4. All you have to do is enter the time instead of selecting every element one by one.
2. Admin panel has also been updated to help page admins manage upcoming posts.
3. Uploading photos in posts has also been made easier.
Facebook is also testing page post link ads which will appear in users’ newsfeed. These ads do not have comments and like options – and the lack of these two features has made Facebook ads relatively cheaper. This new ad option is not ideal for generating Page engagement, however, is just right for generating impressions at a reduced cost.
Doctor Who Google Doodle – a Whodle!
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Doctor Who series’, Google has released its Doctor Who Doodle (a.k.a a Whodle at Googleplex, Mountain View). This doodle goes through all 11 incarnations of the Time Lord – Doctor Who. It took the Google team 4 full months to prepare what is one of their most elaborate doodles yet.
Pinterest will now help you plan your travel:
On Wednesday, Pinterest added a new location-based feature to the platform that uses Place Pins to mark the locations of your favourite destinations for travel. This enables them to mark the locations of all the products they pin on their pinboards. These Place Pins can be used in a creative and interesting fashion. Eg: Businesses can create boards with their store locations and share them with their customers. Or, you can create a list of your favourite restaurants in the city and share them with a friend who is visiting for the first time.
Also, do remember to connect your Pinterest and Facebook profiles to maximize the exposure your brand receives.
